How to wash shapewear properly: care instructions for long-lasting wear

To help your shapewear maintain its elasticity and shaping performance over time, we recommend especially gentle care. Always follow the care label inside your garment, as it is the most important reference.

In short: Shapewear should be washed at a maximum of 30 °C on a gentle cycle or by hand, should not be tumble dried, and should be cleaned without fabric softener.
  • Wash gently: use a delicate cycle or hand wash, ideally at 30 °C
  • Use a mild detergent: preferably without harsh additives
  • Do not use fabric softener: it can affect the elasticity of the fibers
  • Do not tumble dry: let your shapewear air dry instead
  • Avoid direct heat: do not place it on a radiator, in strong sunlight, or use an iron

Extra tip for delicate materials

It is best to wash your shapewear in a laundry bag. This gives the fabric, seams, and elastic fibers extra protection, especially if you wear your pieces regularly or wash them together with other garments.

Tips to make your shapewear last longer

  • Rotate between pieces: if you wear shapewear often, it helps to alternate between two styles so the fibers have time to recover.
  • Check the care label: it contains the most important instructions for washing temperature, drying, and garment care.
  • Put it on and take it off gently: avoid pulling hard on individual seams. Instead, roll the shapewear on and off step by step, similar to delicate hosiery.
  • Avoid contact with rough surfaces: jewelry, rough fingernails, zippers, or hook-and-loop fasteners can damage the material over time.
